Tascam vs Fostex vs Yamah, again

ok.......i posted this similar thread in the fostex forum, as i am soon gonna upgrade my fostex mr8 to probably a fostex vf160ex, tascam 2488, or yamaha aw1600. Ive seen some reviews on the tascam and they seem to say that it doesnt last long before it needs to go into a shop. Whats the honest likelyhood of making a good sounding, almost commercial sounding cd straight from the 2488, without sending files to a pc for mixing/mastering there? what are the pros and cons of this machine? lately i been leaning toward the yamaha. Feedback please!

A commerical quality CD? realistically, probably not so good, but then again it matters on your set up. I would guess on its lonesome, it would lack some fullness, have that digital transparancy to it. Tascam never put their name on complete crap though...
