Tascam 388

I recently bought a Tascam 388 and it might not even work. I havent picked it up yet so i dont know. But does anyone know how much replacement parts from Tascam cost? Like motors or heads or anything else that usually breaks on these when something does actually break. I am fairly certain that the mixer section works, and thats why i bought it, but if i can get the tape section running i will be very happy. Thanks

Via past posts, it seems parts from Tascam for the 388 are very limited.
And the last time I got a price on a head from a second source was more than you could but a nice 388 for.
That said, in the past I have seen posts from members selling odd parts off of a 388 that did not survive the UPS man.
My advice: see what you got first. Test it, check the fuses/belts, etc. You may be surprised. I bought a 388 that the seller sold for parts because it did not record. When I tested it it worked fine. Get a manual
And if the tape unit turns out to be toast, you can still sell it for parts.
