favorite portastudio?

Hi. Im looking to get a friend of mine a quality 4-track cassette portastudio made by tascam (cause i LOVE my 388). It seems as though there are lots of different versions. anyone have a favorite?
A decent mixing board, internal bouncing, and tape speed adjustment would be a great bonus.
thanks...

TASCAM 244 or 246 if you want to go "vintage" or 414mk2 or 424mkIII if you want to buy "new". The former, in my opinion, is a much better built portastudio but the latter are much more recent which still can be had new, presenting different benefits over the older units.

I personally tried all of them and settled on the 244 and 246.

Arrow I think...

If you love your 388, then you'd be most pleased with the 246, as it's most like the 388 than any other Portastudio. They're from the same 80's lineup of Tascam products, and they share many of the same features.

Besides, the 246 is one of the most high quality vintage Porta's, ever.
