Cubase? why so special?

I'm getting ready to make some purchases and I've read lots about cubase. To my understanding it is software that is quite compatible with most USB and Firewire interfaces. Is this true? also, what are some advantages to the Cubase system?
thaks.

Doesn't matter what program you use.... and they are all "compatible" with most USB and Firewire interfaces (that's done through the operating system kernal and drivers, not the program).

It's all in what you are comfortable using. You might like one type of workflow while I like another, just like the differences of driving a Ford vs. a Chevy vs. a BMW; all are cars and will get you there but have their own little differences.

There is a very important exception to this - ProTools LE. It will only work with their proprietary hardware and some M-Audio stuff.

Miseria_Cantare is on a distinguished road
In my opinion anything by cakewalk is better than cubase.

But as has been said, it just depends on what you prefer yourself.
Try the demo's for yourself before purchasing

Cubase.. ugh.
