Cubase crashing

Hello -

I just had Cubase down for about a month and now that my studio is back up and running, cubase is crashing (freezing) when I try and load some of the stuff I was working on before the teardown. CUbase comes up. I select a .cpr file to load. It goes thru all the steps of loading, then the little window dissappears, and BAM! It freezes right when the project/mixer etc windows would show up.

Anybody have any ideas????

Which cubase is it? If its a cracked version it will def do that, my friend tried that and it just kept freezing up. If not, just try to reinstall it. Hope that helps bud, good luck.

Ooops, sorry - it's SX3, and no, it's NOT cracked. Do you know wether all my settings/plugs/etc will stay if I re-install over the top of the existing installation?

Not sure, but you *could* back them up first.

I had a crash similar to what you are saying in SX2. I ended up reinstalling everything including third party plugins after that I didn't have any more problems.

Try move all plugins in the vstplugins folder to another location and restart Cubase. Move them back then restart again. Like bigwillz24 said, it's probably some plugin gone bad.

If the problem persists, you need to track down which one..

Either that or a conflict of some sort. I assume your running windows so try to restore you computer back a couple of days or months. Maybe you got virus or spyware and its messing you cubase. you just got to keep trouble shooting.

Exactly what I was going to suggest.

Yup. My trust of PCs being what it is, I make sure to back up my VST plugins to DVD every couple of months. Just in case. I've done a lot of surfing and feel like I've tried out most of the freeware out there, and would hate to have to find it all again!
