ok so im completely new to four tracks and i dont know how to record on this thing.im serious. like the record button will not want to go all the way down is this normal? sorry if this is such a newbie question.

if the Record button won't go down, it's usually because the "write-protect" tab has been removed from the tape shell & the tape is in "safe" mode. Many pre-recorded tapes come this way. If, by chance, the "record/protect" tab is out, then a simple piece of scotch tape over the hole will "fix" the tape & make it ready to record.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what else the problem might be. This unit is notoriously simple to use!!
