Using CD-R's to back up FD-4 zip drive?

Have any of you had any success with this? I have not tried it yet, just wanted to see if it was possible first. I have a soundblaster card with the optical inputs, and I would be running the 4 track directly into it. If you have done this, or know any other creative ways to back up data, let me know.
