Hacking into the CV of an effect's parameter?

I had posted a question in the MIDI Mania forum called "MIDI & analog potentiometers."

One member introduced me to MAX/MSP... mind boggling stuff~! Another one told me about the fact that there are MIDI/CVs out there... I guess those are Control Voltages that can be automated with MIDI.... The MCV24 is one of these things, found as a MIDI Interface in the "products" at:
http://www.doepfer.de/home_e.htm

Basically, I want to control and automate the parameters on my BOSS pedals with expression pedals, and pots too. Apparently, if I can hack into the control voltage of one of the effect's parameters, I can then hook it up to one of these MIDI/CV things and waaaaaaaaaala.

Now I'm wondering, how can I hack into the CV on an effect's parameter??? I guess I might need a multi-meter? If you haven't guessed already, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to MIDI and electronics.

The BOSS PH-3, found 1/2 way down at http://www.gtrheaven.com/boss.htm , can have an expression pedal plugged into it to control the phaser's rate. I wonder, can I hack into the other phaser's parameters?

Thanks,
Mark

This is a hard thing to do, i know, i thought about it - but that's all i did and i'm glad of it. The only advice i can give you is that if you don't want any pain & suffering buy old wah pedals etc (that don't work). make room inside the pedal for a switching jack (that disconnects the original effect pot when a jack is inserted) Substitute the pot in the crybaby or whatever for the same value as the pot you want to control. And do it that way, much less control & really not what your wanting but a LOT LOT LOT less hassle.

you might have to cut tracks on the board to disable the internal pots of the boss pedal. it's pretty tight in one of those things not much room to move.
