postrecording rack
so i want to send a vocal track..after i recorded it..to my 160xt compressor....i cant for the life of my figure out how to do this...
so far i figured: mic to preamp...pre amp to input of delta....output of delta to input of compressor...output of compressor to input of delta..output of delta to monitors... is that right? if so..how do i actually send the track to the compressor? any help would be appritiated..thanks!

isn't it
mic to preamp, preamp to compressor, compressor to delta, delta to monitors...

but with that setup..i would be adding the compression with the initial recording..i want to record it clean..then send it to the compressor..so i will be able to minipulate it better

If you are using a hardware compressor...I would probably just record the track...then take the output of your soundcard and put it into the pre-amp and leave the rest of the chain the way it was for the initial recording. You would actually be recording the track again but replacing the mic with the soundcard output....
Not sure if this is the proper way to do it...but it should work... |

well that would make sense..exept how do i send the soundcard output into the preamp...like i have the track recorded...then i replase outpout of soundcard to preamp..then what? press record?

but then i would be sending the signal through the preamp twice..wouldnt that lower the sound quality?

you don't need to send the signal thru the preamp twice. the recorded signal is already amplified. just send the track to the compressor and record the result.
