Old School Joemeek...VC1Q and VC1Qcs preamps

So on ebay this post says how the VC1Q is better than the VC1 (don't know if that included the Brick or the later incarnation rack mount version) and better than the VC1Qcs, pointing out the latter had inferior preamp components. I know they dropped the transformer with the cs version, but is it inferior? I have a cs version, and though I haven't gotten a lot of time with it since ebay purchase (building a " recording room structure" off of an existing structure so I want to finish that before putting the 'new' equipment to work), it sounds nice to my ears. Just wondering about the two in practical sound, not so much the specs of Q vs. Qcs technical specs. Anybody here used both at one point or another, or simultaneously, and hear a difference?

The VC1Q has transformer, VC1Qcs has IC as you already mentioned. They sound a bit different, both sounds very good.
