4 track help?
I have an old Tascam Porta 1 that I recorded with for several years and now when playing back it only plays tracks 2, 3, 4. Track one doesn't work. I've cleaned the heads and still no luck. Would demagnatizing help or are the heads done. If that's the case is there any other old 4 track that plays the same "normal " speed. I want to revisit some of my old tapes and take them to digital. I've tried to play them on a friends Fostex xr-5 and it sounds like the Chipmunks. Seems the Fostex plays at double speed. I've checked Ebay and the Tascams cost more than I really want to spend. Any cheaper alternative? What do ya think?

You will probably get more replies by posting this question in the Tascam forum under 'User Forums by Brand'.
