Vintech 1272/ GR ME-1NV

I have an ME-1NV and I was looking to get more preamps. I see on DOTs preamp chart, that the 1272 is at the TOP as the most "colored" pre. Looks like I can get 2 channels of Vintech 1272 at a little more than $1000. Do you guys think that it is a little/lot different flavor than the ME-1NV, or pretty much the same thing? I am just trying to get more crayons for my box.

PS--I already have a Sytek and a Avalon737

My experience so far has been that anything the Vintech does well at, the Great River does better. They are similar, but the GR just reminds me of a better implementation of a similar sound. Maybe you should look into a clean pre, or the opposite... A chandler. I love my TG2.

From what I know of it, the 1272 is a converted line amp. Also the build quality is a little on the funky side.(connectors hanging from cables instead of a back plate) .
If you want way colored, you might find a Demeter . I love mine. Different than the Avalon.
You could also check out the API 500 series in that price range. Theyre a little steeper than the Vintech 1272, but have a different characteristic about them.
As far as the colored sound, a lot has to do with the transformers than just a solid state or tube signal path.
