dm24 curiousity questions

Thinking about changing some things around in the studio and utilizing a DM24. Just had a couple of questions though.
1. Has anyone experienced any issues/problems with using the firewire sound card that tascam makes for the DM24. I'm still utilizing a mac dual 533 and want to be certain that it won't create any issues. (I would actually imagine it to help with the overall processing done with DP3, but just want to be certain)
2. Regarding the firewire card again, is it posssible to utilize that option with a laptop. I would imagine it not to make any difference, but still want to check it out.
Thanks.
