Computer Speakers under 100 dollars?

Here is my situation. I have a computer with an m-audio audiophile 2496 soundcard, with RCA ins. I also have a set of very crappy computer speakers.

So, what I want now is to upgrade my speakers to something cheap, under 100$, and nice. They don't nessecarily have to be perfect monitors or flat, but instead I would prefer a nice musical speaker, since music would be the main purpose for them. However, something with a flat response and musicality would be even better.

Now, Im not sure if I want 5.1 or 2.0 but I have a had time believing I would be able to find a nice set of 5.1 for under 100$, so stereo would be just fine. Also, I am not a basshead, and don't need crazy thumping bass. I just want a nice crisp sound, with good seperation of frequencies and no muddyness, and tight nice bass, not thumping.

I was thinking of maybe getting those best buy insignias for 50 dollars and a t-amp, is that my best bet? Or is there anything better?

So, any recommendations?

Model: NS-3099

Those? For $49.99???

You wouldn't need a amp they have amps built in.

Since this is a recording site, I would assume you want these speakers, atleast part of the time, be monitors for recording/mixing audio on. I would then, not that I would like it, but I would then atleast try something out like these: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...s-?sku=603706V or these http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ors?sku=600682 or anything else at musciansfriend that is around $100. Some will say better to save up and buy a pair in the $300-$500 range (which in itself is a good suggestion) but if $100 is all you have and will be all you have for quite a while....it comes down to; you do whats ya got to do, but stay the heck away from best buy, please.

The best computer speakers I found (after trying several dozen brands at Fry's one day) are Labtec LCS-1070 (I think they're called "Spin 70") speakers. They had the least hyped sound of all the speakers we tested. Not flat by any means---no really deep bass, a little heavy on the lower mids---but as far as computer speakers go, they're pretty decent.

If u want computer speakers in the 100 bucks range or less u might want to consider to go with monitors as stated above.
