Phonic firewire mixer + MIDI Behri B control, is it possible?
Cut a long story short.
The firewire mixer doesnt have MIDI inputs. I will be using it as the souncard and my monitors will be connected to the mixer. So it will be on when im mixing. i do have a soundcard in the computer which i can attach midi ins/outs to but im not sure if i can be using two soundcards at the same time. The behringer B control has a USB port aswell as midi in/outs. Is it possible to use the usb instead of the midi inputs. OR can i actually use two soundcards at the same time and im just being stupid. bearing in mind the soundcard in the PC is just standard and the midi input in the 'Games/Midi' Thanks |

If you install the "ASIO4All" Drivers and run your recording software in ASIO mode you should be able to use both Sound cards at the same time as long as you are running in ASIO mode....
I can use both my Delta 44 and my stock sound card at the same time when useing the ASIO4All Drivers so hopefully you should be able to also.... Good luck

Actually I have no Idea about the USB ports on the Behringer, I couldn"t tell you if they act as Plain USB Ports or if they are somehow connected to the audio Path...I have a Feeling that they are Probably just regular USB Ports that you can use for any USB device.....
The Problem with useing 2 Seperate and Different Audio devices to Record audio is that the Clock they use to keep sync will be Slightly different which can cause your Tracks from the seperate devices to gradually go out of Sync.... I also never really heard of Useing Vegas Video 4 for audio recording?? I use it quite a Bit for Video editing and DVD Creation (Encodeing to MPEG-2 and Dolby AC3) but never really though of it as an Multi-Track audio recording Program though I know that it does have some very good audio editing and filtering Tools..... I use "Mackie Traction 2.1" and for me it is the Easiest recording program I have tried and it works like a Charm.... Good Luck

yer it works really well and is pretty easy to use. Considering i have sound forge for editing they work well together. I was thinking about chaniging cause vegas is mostly for video but when i d/l the cubase demo i diddnt like it at all. It looks like it is mostly for use with midi and i just need it for multitracki recording.
I have seen connectors that change MIDI in/outs into a usb drive so i was thinkig that they might just act the same. I asked behringer but they never replied. ah well |

You should maybe Try the Recording software I use....Mackie Traction 2.1 is a extremely easy to use Multi-Track recording program that is set up simular to an analogue studio so it is really easy to use But it will also record Midi and will let you record as many Tracks at Once that you have Inputs on your Interface.....
I also Tried Cubase and Found that it was set up mainly for Midi type stuff and I found the Interface rather Confuseing were with Traction I was able to set it up and start recording in a Matter of Minutes and it is Compatible with most all Recording Hardware and will run most all VST/DX Plugins and comes with some really good ones also..... The demo version of Traction is Rather Crippled Like most demo"s so you don"t really get a fair idea of what it can really do from useing the Demo version But it still might be good to look into it...... Cheers

Thanks for the advice on the software, i tried finding a demo but couldnt. At the moment i cant afford to buy new software as im trying to improve my mixer/monitors?(possibly get a control surface) So untill all that, its out of the equation, I will deffinatly check it out though!.
If you have vegas, give it a quick go at multi tracking. Its very good and pretty simple. I just wanted something that concentrated predominantly on audio and not video. |
