Jamal,

I suggest checking out the Asia card. Also check out the demo of it on the Expansion CD-ROM sampler that came with your keyboard. I read an article about a programmer/beatsmith that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis uses on some of their projects. Jimmy Jam said that this guy flew in from Atlanta for a 1 day session. They asked him what he needed. He asked for an Akai S5000 and an XP-60 with the Asia card. That's it.

That's the next card on my list, because the sounds are so "abnormal". I think you would get a new vibe for your hip hop stuff with this card. Especially something out of the ordinary.

Whoops, I just reread that you're looking for Moog leads and basses. You probably won't find them in the Asia card.

The Techno card that came with my XP30 may have what you're looking for. It has a lot of wild leads, basses and synth style sounds in there. See if you can find a demo of "Keyboards of the 60's and 70's also. But I think the Techno card may be more of what you're looking for.

I write/produce and engineer R&B, Rap, Hip-Hop, House, Teckno, Country, and Gospel. I primarilly use the Dance, Techno, Drums & Bass, and HipHop expansion boards in my 1080 all the time. I purchased another 1080 used to hold my other expansion boards such as the World, Pop, Keyboards of the 60's and 70's, and the Session board.

You will find out that the R&B, Rap, Hip-Hop, House, Teckno will suit your needs just. I've been writting music for years, and the JV & XP series plus the EXP boards will work just fine for you
