Question Brick vs. Robbie vs. Solo 610

I am wondering witch one of these is the one for me, They all serve the same function and are somewhat in the same price range. I think it would be safe to say they are all good pres, but there must be something that distinguishes these 3 other than price tags. Any help would be appreciated.

good luck on the robbie information. not too many people have tried it...i think ive read everything possibley imagineable on the internet about it. I like the idea of its simplicity, but its just too much cash for a single channel pre. Its the pre that Blue actually uses to test their mics. Guys at guitar center rave about it, but i think thats because they make killer commission on blue products. Ive really good things on the brick, not much on the other pre you mentioned.

solo 610 - a one channel non rack version of universals audios 610 tube preamp

robbie-blues artsy fartsy looking $1000 1 channel tube non rack preamp

brick- groove tubes non rack tube pre with 3 tubes

I would imagine the blue to perform well but I havent had experiance with any of these. anybody heard the difference in tones? the solo 610 is supposed to sound like universal audios famous 610(do they sound good?), The brick implements 3 tubes. I imagine their characteristics must be somewhat different. Any experiance?

I personally would pass on the Robbie. I'd prolly go with the Brick, or maybe save a bit more and start an API lunchbox, or get a Chandler Germ. Pres don't have to be tube to sound great.

Go Brick

Go Brick. . .Got it, love it. . .owned the robbie for a bit. . .simple, clean but lackluster. The brick is one of those pre's that you'll be reaching for more and more. . .sounds great on Voice, stunning on bass, ok on guitar, ok to mediocre on piano. I run my gt 66 mic through it, and it adds an element of bass and depth to the voice. . .very flattering.

maybe getting the brick and a robbie. robbie for piano and guitar, and a brick for bass, vocals.... All three may not be a bad Idea, best of all 3 worlds!

Or a Hamptone. About a grand for two channels, less if you DIY.
