hooray for new bass!

so today im on my way up north to check out my new apartment at rutgers..so i figure ill stop by guitar center in the mornin and check out some stuff, just fuck around ya kno? so its like 10:05, right when they open, and i just go in and go straight to the bass room..checkin out some stingrays bc thats my dream bass..then all of a sudden this green G&L L2000 catches my eye..and i take it and play it for like an hour...and decide ya kno what, it's time to get another bass! this is my first new bass in 4 years, but its not really new..as i checked out the serial number, it seems as if this bass is registered on the guitarsbyleo website as a 1987 body, but the serial number on the 3 screw neckplate seems to be around 1990, so i'm quite confused about that, and i don't feel like taking the neck off yet to check...but anyway, it plays beautifully, got it for only $600 somehow (marked down from $850 but still) and theres no flaws at all..active humbuckers, parallel/series switch, EQ on/off switch and then EQ+treble boost, bass cut and treble cut knobs...its SO cool and i cant stop playing it!

I'm glad you bought a killer G&L instead of a mediocre Fender. That thing will do you well.

The only thing I don't like about G&L's are the headstock shape. I don't know why, but it just kind of annoys me, other than that, I have never seen a "bad" G&L. One of my friends has the very first G&L ever made that is a right handed guitar with a lefthanded neck. It is literally #001. What happened was, the original neck was fucked up, and he sent it back, and asked them to put a left handed neck on it, and since the neck was fucked up, to make amends for it - they did it.

oh man, yeah i really love this bass more and more..ever since i figured out how all the electronics work and the series/parallel stuff, man its so versatile..i LOVE the sound of the hums! i was always deadset on buying a musicman but then when i saw this thing, wow..it sound sjust like a musicman with the bridge on, but with both on it sounds...well, like a G&L lol...the sound is just so in your face and growls! ill record some sound clips eventually and throw em up on here, but i LOVE this thing

Leo probably knew he had to change the headstock shape just enough to satisfy the teams of lawyers that CBS's Fender buy out would unleash if the neck was too "Fenderish looking". I'm sure he would have left it like the original Precision if he was able to.

Since I'm drunk, I'll say it... G&L'S ARE THE SHIT!!! I own 3 Alembics, a fender and bunch of other shit, but what do I play, mostly? Well, actually that would be a Conklin, but the G&L Tribute 2500 is a close second. Whew, the room is spinning! No, wait! That's just me looking for an ashtray....

Control diagram

Here's the G&L website diagram:http://www.glguitars.com/frameset.htm

I have a Tribute L2000, and as soon as I got it out of the box it became my #1 bass. The single thing it won't do is the P, so I also carry a P with me. The L2K is a hell of a bass.

DITTO!! I've been told the only reason it isn't ivy league is because early on they had a choice of being the state college or not...they chose not to until much later...

lol no I was referring to the drive past it. But still, I don't like Rutgers . The STD stats were enough to drive me away! Then again, I don't like my school too, so it all works out lol.

"The STD stats were enough to drive me away! "

btw those are all blown out of proportion, and it was proven this year..its not nearly as high as anyone says, and thats one thing that angers me about peoples ignorance for the school.
