'Semitone' option in CEP.
Hi.
I was wondering if CEP offered the 'Semitone' feature. I have put together a loop-based piece in CEP, but wanted to select/change a portion of a looped section to another key. I can find nothing on semitoning, and also wondered if CEP used another terminology for the same job function. Please let me know. |

Not in CEP, but I think from Audition 1.5 onward, there's a pitch correction feature. I don't know if it'll do semitones, and I don't even know if that's what you're looking for. What does a semitone feature do? Does it change the pitch of the whole piece a semitone?

Hi Dobro ~ Thanks for responding. Let me see if I can answer you this way: a friend once let me use a program of his (Acid Pro 4.0), a while back, and I had the opportunity to play around with a few loops in it. I remember being able to 'step' notes down/up, with it, and believe that it was with the 'Semitone' feature of that program. I now have Cool Edit Pro 2.1, and wish to lower a few selected notes of a bass loop. Again - so easy to do in Acid 4.0, but no way for me to see how to do it in CEP. Maybe it is as you say: that it just doesn't allow that capability. |

Very New so no shouting if I'm wrong, in my version of CEP I have used the Effects - Time/Pitch - Pitch Bender to alter the key on several occasions.

Try using the stretch feature, and preserve the tempo.

Owen, Mentallatica - good ideas, but I'm guessing that Cool Edit doesn't come close to Acid and other looping programs for stuff like our thread starter's talking about.

Thanks everyone.
I guess (being that I am starting to really like working with loops) that I am going to have to break down and buy ACID. Or would there be a better alternative program for my desires (one that wouldn't break the bank ). |

Mmm, I've got a version of sort of Acid Lite that I got for really cheap. I forget the name, but it's put out by the same company that puts out Acid. It does the main functions, but has none of the whistles and bells and flashing lights on a chrome surface that the main program has.
