how successful repairs cd-rw2000??

My Tascam CD-RW 2000 has developed an intermittent problem on its left channel where it either
1 works fine sometimes
2 records at a very low level
3 records distorted.
One other clue is it seems to be sensitive to humidity.

Its 6 years old. Have users here had much luck sending in units to the factory authorized repair centers for intermittent problems?
