feedback!
hey guys, my guitar player is having a ton of feedback from his solid state crate 3500 "shockwave" head. even if he is far away he still gets it. i dnt think its his speakers because they are brand new, eminence red coat manowar. he is using monster cables, no its not the cabling. when he uses his cheap wireless it works to cut the feedback, but compromises in tone. any help to kill feedback? any pedals or anything? also, is the boss noise supressor worth its money? he is thinking of getting rid of his amp head and getting a peavey valveking or the mashall mg100hdfx. thanx

Odd that the wireless stops it. Probably not a microphonic pickup, but you never know. Less volume, less gain, less treble. Otherwise, find out if other guitars do it with that amp, and if other amps do it with that guitar.
If you are stuck to one guitar/amp, can't modify your tone, and can't turn down, get used to using the guitar's volume knob to mute in between passages. |

Jesus he's running 350 freekin' watts-that is his problem.
Get a 100 watt head and that will be plenty, mic it if you need to.Hell I've ran 50 to 60 watts live for 25 years and it's been fine. |

Is he using a hollow or semi-hollow body guitar? They can be hard to control. BTW in mics/PA systems feedback starts around 630 - if you think you need to cut frequencies, that would be one place to start. Is he pumping through stage monitors also? That's the biggest culpret for microphone feedback.
