Valves... for death metal

I recently purchased an used Peavey Bravo 112 that came with EL37 and 12AX7 valves. When the time comes to replace the original tubes... what should I do? I play death metal so I use lots of gain when playing.

Svetlana, Sovtek, Groover, Electro Harmonix, Sprague, Mullard... whoa! There's too much to choice. Here in Lima I don't have the oportunity to test any tube. Believe me, the musical market is almost null. So I'm seeking advice from player that know about valves and know about the type of music I play.

In this case I'm not worried about money so this is not the threat: "I'm out of budget, recommend me some cheap tubes" it's more like "Give me the best fucking tubes the money can buy so I can play in-your-face death metal all night"

Thanks a lot.

Very hard to say one or the other is better for what you play,....... they are individual tastes,... and any of those you mentioned will sound different in each amp,.... and with each guitars electronics even more different,....

What I personally think sounds good with my rig, is not neccesarilly what you would like in yours,.....

I would just get some readily available tubes and give it a shot,.....

and cheap does not mean it will sound it's best,.... but if you just want loud and overdriven,..... any new tubes will give you that..

There are no tubes that are better at death metal than some other tubes. No brand, no type.

How have you gotten death metal out of a RAT? It gets nice and dirty for grunge, but it doesn't have the right type of distortion for death metal.

Killthepixel, check out Eurotubes, I've heard good things about them (don't own a tube amp myself).

I disagree, tubes, like pickups, ahve different "EQ". SOme are warm, some are bright, some are darker.

I can't test tubes, I told ya, I live in the middle of nowhere, there's no real music stores in Lima. I have to purchase on-line.

Mullards, it seems that everyone like'em...

No way, proC es everyhting but metal. The best stompboxes for metal are the "Line 6 Uber Meta"l and the "Digitech Metal master". But there's nothing like the gain coming from your (tube) amp. I learned that after getting my Peavey. My old Metal Zone now is resting in peace.

I've used a couple different brands of tubes and I've never noticed much of a difference, especially for high gain stuff. I don't think the differences will be anywhere near as great as what you seem to be thinking. Anyway, if you like the way it sounds now just be safe and put in the same kind of tubes.

If you told me that there's no much difference, I could be a solution, put the same ones... Mullard, the name comes to my head, too many people are saying "this are the tubes" or "finest tubes ever produced" Maybe they're overrated... does anybody hear have heard or tried one model of this brand?
