Great song.

The song and the lyrics are very cool.

The distort. rhythm guitar sounds good. Behind chorus (2:56 - 3:21 and other places) the rhythm guitar can be raised a little. The solo is pretty nice.

The bass and the kick sound a little muddy. Just my newb opinion. So take it as such.

The kick is not clear at all. You know it's there and it's thumping but too muffled. Maybe cut below 60Hz and raise a little more around 150-200Hz and in the mids a little. And maybe give bass clear defined EQ range. After fixin' the kick, the bass might be ok anyway.

Good song. I like the two vox.

The guitars sound a little thin in the beginning. Maybe add a second track or EQ it a little around mids and lows.

The overall sound is good but the female vox seem panned harder than the male giving an off kilter effect. Either slap both dead centre or equally pan them as they work as a duo of voices rather than lead with girlie harmony.

I can't agree with Bigbubba lyrically, & ignoring the topic, as these are more than a little corny & repetitive. You can praise with a little more sophisticated these days I would have thought.

The playing is pretty darn good.

The distorted guitar could use a different tone even a cranked version of a clean lead tone. Some of the lead seemed to go off in other tonal directions at times. Being cloth eared as I am that may just be my tinnitus telling me stories.
The bass is rather anonymous.

There's a real market for you out there but you should aim a little wider than the obvious. This seemed directed at live performance at meetings and youth rallies rather than reflection and meditation. the melody & music can carry your ideas well enough to consider a more subtle approach to worship.

Just a note, if you sing praise and worship music, I'm pretty much gonna like it very much. The repetitive-ness doesn't bother me. I like it mostly.

There are a lot of bands out there that do more "subtle" P&W music like you said. I kinda like the upfront be honest with your thoughts.

Rayc - I've heard that said before and that's why I quoted your post. I just wanted to throw in the perspective that some people (like me) do like this specific kind of music and don't want it different.

Thanks Big Bubba! I just put up a new version without as much distortion as i was getting some negative feedback about that on another forum. I know you liked the distortion as i did, but let me know if you still like this version as i do want to "broaden" the appeal since this is song for the church and not just for youth. I tried to work on the bass as you suggested.

I think it might be the FX on the vocals but it sounds like the female vocals are coming just a tiny bit late in a few places, and there may be some syllables on the male vocals....It just may be the FX or my computer speakers.

Very well done...

When I get home I will take another listen on some better speakers.
Keep up the good work.

The kick is sounding better now. Could use a little more definition. The bass is souding better now. I think it is played nicely and could also use a little more definition.

You don't have to lower the low end of the bass but maybe then just raise somewhere around 2.5kHz or something. It is mixed more like one of those bands like TFK or Pillar or someone similar would play along with heavier guitars and thicker guitars with the really loud everything. But the overall style of music is a little more mellow and so more easily recognizable bass will probably sound better.

Just my opinion. The song is still rockin' man.

Thanks for your time and consideration in reviewing this song. I hear where you are coming from on most of the comments. Your'e right about it being directed more towards live performance and youth rallies. To me, it wa just that kind of a target however a lot of my other songs fit more in the vein of reflection and meditation. IMHO, i feel it's the sum of the picture that counts with each song being just a piece of the puzzle to a finished CD which is ultimately my goal. Thanks so much for your evaluation!

Thanks bigbubba! I put up another version with a few changes including the bass you had mentioned. Do you hear any difference?

You know I thought this before when I first listened to this - this would probably stand up pretty well with vocals and acoustics only......

That being said, the mix on this continues to impress and I really enjoyed the arrangement......great performance by the band too!

Thanks! Someone asked me already about doing an unplugged version. Maybe someday.

For some reason the guitars and the drums and all sound very nice and polished now. They didn't before!

The drums sound full. Is it my imagination or did the male take a backup role an the female the main vocal role? I am sure it was the other way around before. She sings good. Very nice voice. The guys has got a good voice too.

Having said that, I might have caused you to EQ the bass and the kick too much. So it's a little muddy/rumbly between the kick and the bass. I'm sure the bass is not played with so much "pop" or defined notes and pick.

So it might be the kick that I'm hearing. I'd say lower the kick by 3-4db and brighten up the bass a little more by boosting a little in the mids or highs. Don't lower the bass, tho. Keep in mind that I have the same problem with most of my tracks all the time. So I'm not exactly the sound genius that you should be necessarily listening to in terms of how to fix it. But I do say correctly how I hear it and then try to offer suggestions.

Guys, can someone with monitors actually give this a listen and see what they hear?
