CAMEL Comm. So Long All Done?

Hi Folks,
Ido, I've managed to balance the 2 guitars & panned them a just little L & R. I've also added some more mids & highs + some vol. to the bass.
DavidK, I've added some compression & a bit of reverb to the kit & panned the crash & ride L & R with the tambourine off centre. I can't do much more with it. I tweaked the cut & fade a tiny bit more than the last edition. You're the whizz mixer as evidenced by your country rock project, any more ideas?
Dogman, I followed your suggestions & I think I've ridden the auto faders & FX sends enough to even the vocals out a bit more.
Here are the links - continued feedback gratefully received.

Hello again, rayc!
I'm not at home now and I listen to your song on non expensive headphones.
I can hear nice bass playing in the background. I would like to hear it a little bit louder. Drums too (maybe). The rest is sitting perfectly well. I struggle following through all lyrics only because of my pure EDIT poor English. Is there possibility to read it somewhere? I would appreciate if you could send me link to it.
You did nice job, rayc!

Hey rayC - listening on my headphones ..... Sounds really good.. what a great song lyrically and musically!

The guitars are tight! I'm getting a big guitar sound from the two guitars, and it's fills up that part of the song nicely. They have a nice spread in the stereo spectrum.

Bass has a nice tone, good volume, not muddy at all, and sync's nicely with the drums....

Drums are good, panning on the percussion has given it some nice stereo imaging.

Flute playing is very well done. Although the soloing at the end makes the song longer, you have to keep the whole thing it's cause the playing is so hot.

The vocals are a tiny bit low on the intro - I hear a small volume difference when it hits the word "Huey". The rest of them are levelled nicely.

Nice clean mix, well panned and good effects.....

If you click lyric/story in he bottom left of the sounclick streaming box you'll find the lyrics. Alternately click the "here" link under my signature linebeneath these lines & youll go to my soundclick page, click music & then under so long shuffle click lyric.
Thanks for your generous comments.
I'm struggling with the bass. In the room whilst mixing it's quite loud & prominent. As a wave file in the upstairs computer it's less so, I assume room acoustics & speakers make the difference. However, after conversion to MP3 it drops of markedly.
You're English is improving with every post.
Ido/Gerry, thanks - your advice is the reason the guitars work. You're right about the flute. It was agony chopping off the last 10 secs. let alone any further editing. My collaborator, Terry, has sent me a "radio edit" he thinks might work. It's his flute playing so if he can wield the axe he's doing well. It could be an alternative - I haven't heard it yet though.
The vocals, yeah I know. They're cranked all the way up, I had to pull back the masters to -6DB to accommodate them, & I've had to resort to EQ & chorus to boost them. I thought about a 3db overall increase but there's some considerable tape noise & faux compression pumping as well as some percussive p's that would then have to be battled with. I'll have another burl at it though - up to Huey eh?
Thanks both of you.
It's been another very good learning process.

Nice mix man...it's really shaping up. The rough edges seem to be gone. All the tones are still there, just more even. Not over polished...just enough. I like the tune. It just has a cool vibe. Good job man....

Thanks Dogman,
I just need to veen out the 1st verse vocals & I think I'll leave it. My writing/performing colaborator - Terry - is attempting a radio edit to chop a little more length. I'll leave that to him.

Hey man, cool song!

The lyrics are pretty interesting. Your lyrics are always more than just the shallow two-bit word rhymes that most bands put out these day. Very thought out. Cool.

The flute, is it? It sounds like it's played live. That sounds cool. The lower octave doubled in the end is really sounding nice.

The playing of the guitar and the bass is very tight together. Cool.

The mix sounds really good here. May boost the snare a touch. But maybe just leave it as it is.

Very cool man. Love the guitars and the rhythm they create. Vocals sound nice and clear. Really impressed by the flute solo, didn't see that coming. Tone of the flute I thought sounded awesome as well, real airy without being painful. Real cool man, wish I had some advice or something but it sounds good to me.

Take care
gary

Hello again rayc!
I was going to comment your flute solo but I waited until I uploaded song called "Rain"
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=510525
(One of my favourites). I thought you'd love it too. It's probably 30 years old.
I'm going to remove it from soundclick so hurry up.

By the way, your flute solo rocks.

I downloaded the MP3
I played the MP3
I really like the track. plenty of variety in rhythms etc as well as the FLUTE which is fabulous. Any details on performer etc?
I'll send a copy to my collaborator Terry - he's the flautist.
Thank you for being so kind. Also for the generous comments about the song.
I look forward to hearing more of your own stuff.
