My First Recordings

Hey everyone I just started up my home recording studio and I have recently recorded a 9 song album for a band. Here are a few of their songs. Tell me what you guys think as far as the recording quality goes and what I need to work on and how it could be improved.

First Link didn't work for me ...

Dead and Gone - cool tune, well written, tell the band to keep up the good work....

Now on to the mix/recording.... these are my personal preferences - YMMV

The guitar at the beginning is too distorted and compressed - any way you can open that up and give it a bit more meat? Mic the amp maybe, less gain more overdrive?

The cookie monster vocals need to be buried a bit more with less reverb.

The other vocals (male/female) also could be pushed back more into the mix with less reverb. Or turn up the guitars.

Got some noise on the intro guitar you might want to use a noise gate on.....

Second guitar has better tone......

Drums sound good - but could use some more definition when they are centered. When they're panned they sound cleaner. When they're centered they're muddy.

Overall very good tune - just need a bit of work on the mixdown......

thanks a lot dude, yeah i didnt mic the guitars, i recorded them line in which is why they dont really have any depth, i just recently found out that recording with a mic is better

as for the cookie moster vocals the kid is in 7th grade haha

thanks for the comments though, ill keep em in mind
