black metal test clip

I finally got monitors and a sound card (m-audio 2496 and the DX4's) I can finally hear what I am doing now!
Was I off with my old computer speakers.

Here's a short clip of a new song I am doing (no vocals) let me know what you think.

Winds of Chaos

I have no effects/eq or anything yet, just the basic tracks in Sonar - 3 guitars, bass and drums done in Reason.
I wanted to hear your thought on who it sounds so far.

Thanks in advance

Sounds good (for not being Norwegian ), but seriously you captured what I think Black metal is all about "atmosphere".

I would love to hear you redo this with vox and real drums.

Pherhaps speeding up the kick would be cool, double of what its going now.

one more suggestion is alittle more high`s on the guitars, not much just a tad.

Very cool work, and thanks for sharing

Thanks for the feedback, I added some parts and also added some faster double bass drums.

Thanks again.
Updated the link in the first post.

Still got some other stuff I need to add.

Finally!! I got through!

I like the tune. Love the double kicks. Are those what they call 16's?

Liked the guitar and I too would like to hear it with some vocals.

Good job!

True

...

wow, nicely done! It sounds better than some black metal CDs I've purchased in the past...

I like the "layered" sounds going on.

Good tune - the drums rock but I think they are too loud.

Bring them down or bring the rest up.

Tight playing, good tones, keyboards give it a nice difference from just guitars.....

nice tune dude. Nice to see other people recording black metal here What amp did you use? What about the synth? I would like to hear vocals. Keep us updated on the song. Feel free to check out mine and critique it I think the drums should be lower in the mix. That's really all that seemed to stick out to me.

This is a fun tune. Nice sounds. Are you going to do vocals, or is this an instrumental? It's a pretty good mix so far....drums could maybe use a bit more low end, but not much.
Pretty cool song though.....

Thanks for the feedback, I agree now after listening it again after 5 days (I was in the hospital the past 5 days; hence the late reply) that the drums are a bit too loud.

Quote:

The guitars is my Godin guitar into a BOSS SD1 into GuitarRig2.
The keys are a soundbank in Reason.

I'm going to try vocals but I can't sign :P I wanted Cradle of Filth type vocals I don't think I'll be able to manage.
Once I get things finalized I'll be looking for a vocalist though.

Are the guitar->keyboard loudness ratio good?

Thanks again for the feedback.
I'll be remixing soon. I also want to change the keyboard section, it's not holding up on it's own right now.

Sounds great man.
I would like to hear the guitars a bit louder, but I like the mix.

Good job.

I use Reason.
I don't remember which drum sample cds I used for that though, I grabbed a bunch I liked to make a custom drum set.

I took into account some of the things that we're said and edited the mix. I also changed the key. Let me know your thoughts!

If anyone wants to lay some vocals feel free.
