Stereo recording grand piano
I'm in a huge room, with an grand piano. I've got 2 LDC's on it, and wether I mic it close up or far off, it ALWAYS sounds like crap, very far away and not clear at all. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

Are you micing the piano from under the top or with the top closed? Try micing it underneath the top and place one mic near the hammers on the treble end and the other further to the back of the piano on the bass end (kind of like a diagonal, treble front, bass back). Also try things you "think" wont work, cause it just might.

I usually use pencil mics for a better result and usually get a better stereo image
