Unhappy Elemental Audio has been eaten up!

As of may 19th, Elemental Audio and their excellent line of VST plugs no longer exists as Elemental Audio .

They have been bought and reincarnated by Roger Nichols, the world-famous audio engineer and producer. Good for Roger! I have the greatest respect for him and his work. However I am somewhat disappointed to see the substantial price increases he has applied to the re-named and re-skinned products. 'Tis something of a shame.

Anyway, for further information, you can just hit the old Elemental Audio website (www.elementalaudio.com) which gives a breif explanation and has a redirect to Roger Nichols Digital (www.rogernicholsdigital.com).

wow, he has changed the skin and names of the plugins drastically. They look like the Firum, Neodynium and Equim....but...they're not

I'm glad I got them while I could at the cheaper price. I'm gonna be one of those guys that says "I got the original version!"
And what happened to the free Inspector plugin...he got rid of that too? They don't even seem to have the Inspector XL plugin for sale anymore!

Weird.

p.s. it's funny to see the screen shot of the "UNIQUEL-IZER" and he's clipping the output like no other.

Hahaha, I didn't notice that. Well, the more pretty colors and lights the better when doing a screen shot, one might possibly argue. Then again another might argue that all that will do is get folks like you and me joking about it in a forum .

Just got an e-mail from Elemental Audio about this all. Looks like the newer versions are also going to require an iLok key.

Yep. The more I think about it, the more I agree with you that we're lucky to have gotten the "vintage" Elemental Audio stuff while it was still around. Used to be I thought I was one of the few lucky enough to use Finalis. Now I might be able to say the same about the others as well .

Didn't think it would be this soon that we'd actually be able to talk about "vintage plug-ins" in the truest sense .

EA is still around, Roger Nichols Digital is now distributing their plugins. It's not quite the end of the world that people are saying...

True, but a doubling in price just for a skin change, the Roger Nichols nameplate (OOOooooooo! ) and the addition of iLok security isn't exactly great news either.

and the disappearance of the rest of their plugin line up. I should have kept a copy of the free Inspector plugin file off to the side in case I have to reinstall.

Just copy the .dll file in your plugin directory off to a safe spot or a backup disc. All you should need to do to re-install it is copy that file back to the proper plug-in location and let the software find it. At least that's how it works on Wintel platforms. I'm not sure about Mac.

no registry info needed for Windows? Why not just give us the .dll files then instead of the .exe
But I'll try that, thanks.

Hey, now I feel as though I lucked out. I believe I paid $349 for all four of the EA plug-ins.......250 each now and they require ilok? Splendid!

The new names for the plug-ins sound stupid as hell too.

According to EA, the rest of their lineup will return soon and be distributed by RND. I think they just haven't finished changing those over to the new look and iLok yet.

You'd think there would be, but I have gotten plenty of freeware plugs that when unzipped were nothing but .dll files that I manually stuck in my plugin directory structure.

If that doesn't work with the freeware Inspector, I probably still have the original download package I can send you if need be. (I usually keep all the original packages in a "Downloads" folder off in the corner of one of my hard drives, just in case.)

Then again, as Al just said, maybe there is a new "Inspector-izer" version coming from Mr. Nichols' ranch that can soon be gotten. Even double or triple the original price is OK if the original price was $0.00 .

Hahaha, yeah, but it's not as if the names "Eqium" and "Neodynium" exactly rolled off the tongue either .

Hmm, it'll be interesting to see if they do release the other ones soon. I'm interested in seeing if they come out with any new ones anytime soon (a reverb plugin might be nice)...but I'm sure those will be pricey too.

I think I have someone over at the PTForum sending it to me. Not sure if the RTAS version was a different download, but thanks though.

Even if they were $20 for all four, I wouldn't buy them as long as they require an iLok.

When will these idiotic vendors realize that the pirates have no trouble cracking iLok, so all that horrible, horrible hardware/software combination does is make users' machines less stable and cause them to hate your plug-ins and the company that makes them?

There are people out there that won't buy a plugin unless it *is* iLok. I'm not one of them, but apparently they are gradually becoming dominant.

Why does everyone hate iloks? I've had one since day one and it's never been a hassle at all.
