:( latency woes

i`m using cool edit to record some bass and vocals, i play with the metronome on and all is good but as soon as i play it back i get the delay .. in the setting, under smpte i have set the LEAD TIME to 50 ms. it wont go any lower
stopping time is set at 1000
lag time 500 (?)
slack time 2.5
clock drift 200

help me please!!!!!!

ahh i have onboard sound nf4 chipset

I'm not sure if "SMPTE" setting will have any effect in your case of standard recording. (see the help file in the SMPTE tab section of CEP, it's ace!)
Could u pls supply more specs on your 'puter? You also may want to consider not using your onboard sound for recording. These things are inherently bad for anything but basic playback, when used for studio work. They seem to have lag "built into" them!! (This is the first problem I ran into when I started PC based recording at higher 'rates' of quality.)
Even an SB live Value would be a massive improvement,...... in your particular case!!! ($10-$30 Aus).....buy 2!! One to record, the other to monitor!!
