Help Mixing with Karaoke Tracks
Hello, this is my first time posting here. First, here is the equipment im using:
Focusrite Saffire (Firewire) M-Audio Solaris Mic ART Tube Pac Pre/Comp Sonar PE 5.2/Waves Diamond While i am somewhat familiar with home recording, i am definitely not an expert. I am somewhat new to the world of compression. Mostly what i do is record myself over pretty high quality karaoke tracks just for entertainment purposes really. My problem is that when i have finished recording, and export everything to a MP3 or WMA or WAV, it always sounds like the music is either too loud or too quiet compared to my voice. Does anyone have any suggestions, knowing the plugins and software i am using, to help balance those things out? Thanks! |

Welcome.
Try a different micing technique and or a different mic if you have one. Try a few different rooms from which to record the vocal from and get the vocal sitting as best as you can from the get go. From the on try to use eq and compression to further slot it in. Also create yourself some sends to your busses, and put a delay on one and reverb on 1 and try a chorus on another. Then send your vocal to these sends. This helps bridge the gap between the track and your voice. It will also make your voice sound huge if done right. Good luck. |
