Audition vs. Cool Edit Pro V.2

I'm sure there are probably many threads about this topic. I did a search yesterday on the boards,...(took a long time to sort through it all). I've been a loyal Cool Edit person for a long time.

I purchased the original Cool Edit and then purchased a copy of Cool Edit Pro V.2 after the band I was in recorded an album at a studio that used the software and knew i "had to have it"....Can't remember what exactly i paid...I think around $400.00 back in the day,....

My question is: Can someone on here provide me a simple list of pros and cons about whether they feel it is worth paying for the New Adobe Audition....since I have Cool Edit Pro ( A REAL VERSION)....do i pay the full price or is there a discount rate to upgrade...or how does it work?

I've been a member of the boards for a while, but kinda lost touch doing some home recording....and now I'm back in full swing!!

I'm also looking to upgrade equipment....any quick relatively inexpensive control modules that integrate well with Audition...

Thanks for reading this!!!....I hope people don't get frustrated with rehashing some of this stuff....sorry...i did some searches last night, but would love to hear someone's true opinion summed up!!!

Thanks again!

Brian

Location: I hit a live electric bass repeatedly with a maraca, so I needed to mic the maraca and the bass amp at the same time.
