midi controller that also serves as a midi merge box?
hello i was wondering if anybody knows if there are midi controllers similar to novation remote or novation x station in so that they have 2 midi outs.
now a week ago i was banging my head against the wall coz i couldnt figure out how to connect two keyboards with my triton rack (for live use). Now when using a combi i wanted to use most of the 8 programs and didnt want to split my keyboard into eight parts coz an octave has too small range to play a sound(i want that lead synth to go at least to octaves.) so i want to split the programs on the combi ia a way that there are 3 sounds on midi channel 1 (playing keyboard 1) and the same layout with different sounds on midi channel 2 (using my second keyboard) so i can play 6 sounds at once using bigger bigger range (2-3 octaves rather using 1 with just one keyboard) now routing keyboards this way,if i got things straight, ask for a midi merge box, to combine channel1 info with channel 2 info and all that going to triton. but i bought a novation x-station, and accidentaly stumbled to a solution. i could conect keyboard 1 with x station, then set up the x station so that the signal from the midi-in goes to the out along with the midi info that novation is producing, so it serves as a midi merge box and functions ok. now because i bought the x station to serve as a stanalone synth and maybe connect to laptop and as it has only 25 keys, i want to investigate if there are controllers that have simmilar possibilities. so i need to accidentaly stumble to a minimum 49 keys, inexpensive version of the x station. something cheaper than remote 49 300$ (dont need audio interface) what other controllers can do the job for less money(midi mergers would be a waiste of money if such a thing exists) tnx |

I read your post all the way through four times and I'm still not quite sure what you want.
The way I read it, you are looking for recommendations on a 49-key (or more ) midi controller to feed into the X-station you already have, because you don't want to 'waiste' money on a midi merger and your X-station is providing the part of that function that you need. Here are links to three that qualify --- one, two and three. If that was not your question please post again with a more conicise explanation and someone here will try to help.

yeah it was a bit late when i was writing this message
my first sentence should be Keyboard A sends midi on channel 2(i got d50) and that goes to keyboard B novation x station which sends midi on channel 1 - and then, from the novation midi out, all of the midi(channel 1+ channel 2) is combined and sent to triton rack. combi is setup so that 3 programs are on channel 1, and 3 programs are on channel 2. so i can play 6 or more programs at once. now i find 25 keys of the novation are not enough to split 3 programs so i want a bigger keyboard with the same capabilities. now, lets say that i dont have my x station anymore. and if i buy, let say, Emu Xboard 49 49-Key MIDI Controller could i connect d50 to emu xboard and then to triton rack, so that i can play both keyboards on different channels and that both info goes to triton. maybe there is a better solution. but the main point is that i want to use 6 programs each covering lets say at least 1,5 octaves range. and i want to have access to all of the 6 programs without pushing any buttons. |

I think you are better off just buying a midi merge box.

Just get a cheapo midi controller and plug it in to the midi in on the xstation, that way you will have a full sized keyboard and the xstation to use for keys
