Event 20/20 BAS V2 or KRK V6 Series 2 or samson resolvs?

Hi there, I have been using samson resolv 65a monitors for the last couple of years which i have been fiarly happy with, but one of them has now broken and is beyond economic repair, i am thinking now its time for an upgrade, i dont want to spend more than £500 really, i have been looking at the Event 20/20 BAS V2 or KRK V6 Series 2. What does any one reccomend? Or is it worth me saving £300 and getting 1 more samson plus one of its subooofers? Is there much differnece between all the monitors i mentioned? Or should i just get the replacement samson and save up for a real quality pair like the mackie 824's etc.

I use my montitors for mixing rock bands and mixing my own music which is electronica

Cheers anyones help would be appreciated

Matt w

I vote for the Event 20/20 BAS V2. I have the same speakersin my Event TR8's and they are great. Like any monitor you need to learn them but I like the sound I'm getting....

I own the Events and I've been very happy with them. In fact a guy that works at my studio with me has KRK's and he just told me yesterday he's saving for the same monitors as me because he likes them so much.

KRK V6's are really good too...flat and accurate.

Of course, you always get what you pay for.
But it's mainly because the 20/20 has an 8 inch woofer.
To me, a 12 inch woofer is the minimum, so even an 8 inch woofer is going to lack a little resolution in the bass region, but it's better than a 6 inch nonetheless.

Are you sure, smartass? How can we really believe you? Have you noticed all those beautiful red squares beside your rep power?

Well it's my opinion and this board is meant to exchange opinions.
If those red chicklets mean something to you, you have time to waste.
Those are all about popularity and since I often am radical and/or go against the grain, I get bad rep.

I agree though, 8" speakers will give you a better representation of the low end. Look at all my green chicklets, I'm obviously not lying.

And yet you go all over this board bragging about how you do all your mixing thorugh 1" drivers.

There's much more to it than size.

I think you will agree that the bass response you get from headphones with a 1" driver is much closer to the one you find with 12' or 15' speaker systems than 5' speaker systems

The point is that speakers should be big in order to reproduce all the frequency range. Headphones obviously don't need to be that big, since the low frequencies have less traveling distance to your ears.
