They are very different beasts.

So different it's like comparing, say, lions to rhinos or elephants to monkeys.

Maybe if you gave us an idea of your musical genre and instrumental experience someone here could help you decide...

also what equipment you may already have....sounds like you are trying to make Rap beats?...if so who may be your influences?(producers)..are you just testing the water in makin beats or do you plan on buying more equipment down the road...

yeahh i wanna make rap and R&B beats the only equiptment i have is a computer with cool edit pro and my aunts triton... shes moving to another state so im trying to get my own piece of equiptment .... i have some experience with pianos and thats pretty much it . People that influence me are producers like kanye west, and most of the bay area people like E-A-Ski

I think you would get more use out of the MPC. Remember that you will have to load all your own sounds since there is no synth engine but MPC's are pretty much the de-facto tool for hip hop
