Need help with channel recording

Hi folks,
Have just joined this forum and was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem im having. Im curently using cooledit pro and i want to bring four channels of sound into my pc and record them an seperate channels in the software. I know this isnt the right section for the forum for this kind of question but the others are unvisited. If any of you know of a type of sound card i might need it would be of great help. thanks
