DHN is on a distinguished road
Recently I found what I thought was a pretty cool minidisc unit. It's not a multi-track unit but rather a stereo minidisc recorder. It's a JVC model XM-D1BK. The plate on the bottom of the unit indicates it was produced in October 1993 so it must use a very early ATRAC version. I found it at my local guitar store that happens to have a very well run swap shop. It came complete with original packaging, owner's manual, warranty card (although it's well out of warranty) and even the AAA cells shrink wrapped for the remote control. It is powered by an AC wall wart or a rechargeable nickel cadmium battery that resembles a video cam battery. It measures about 7.5"x2.25"x5" and has a pop-up LCD screen that is back lit in blue. I have it hooked up to my stereo to record CDs and I bought a Radio Shack dynamic mic that was manufactured by Shure to record spur of the moment musical ideas. I paid $200 and I have no idea whatsoever if I paid too much or if I got a good deal. It's such a cool little unit that I'm happy no matter if I paid too much. Anyway, sorry to bore you with this but I thought it was so cool, I wanted to tell you about it.
