problem with mic setup on dsp2000 cport

can anyone who uses the dsp2000 cport help me? I input my mic on the xlr inputs on the adc&dac2000, the peak led flashes when I speak through the mic but there's no sound coming out on the speakers. I Checked the manual and it says that when you're using input 1 and 2 the xlr input won't work at the same time. This is my setup. On the External links I set the output 1/2 to the external mixer, otherwise there'd be no sound. The output 3/4 goes to the wave out 3/4 on the external mixer, and so on with the other outputs. On the control panel of my computer the sound playback, sound recording, voice playback and voice recording are set with 1dsp24 2ch (PCM/SPDIF). It seems as if the external link is using input 1/2 for wave playback. What setup can I use in order to use the xlr inputs?
PS. I'm not using the computer card output, I'm using the xlr outputs on the adc&dac2000.
