I know there are people that hate "this mic vs. that mic", but here's my question.
I've got a Studio Projects C1 and B1 (which i'm quite happy with), I was just wondering how the Apex 460 stacks up against those mics? I know the Apex is tube driven, but it's obviously not worth a purchase if i'm not going to hear much difference from what i already own. |

Well, I don't own a C1, but I do have the Rode NT1, which is similar. I would put the 460 in the same category as the NT1. Sounds good, but bright. Probably a touch smoother than the NT1 with an upgraded tube, but not enough to really notice a great difference. I would keep saving if I were you. Maybe an AT 4050, or even a ribbon mic if you want a different flavor.

I have a couple B1's, and I just got a pair of unbranded mics that are OEM 460's. I can say definitively, since both mics have a perfectly round profile, that neither will stack well.
