Honestly kinfolk, I think you're putting a rifle to your foot with the trigger about to go..BLAW!!!.

Your website should be a representation of your work. If you put it out there as a "cheap ass site" and it looks that way, what would people think about your music? Going further into it, what would people think about you?

That's not how you want to go out there. To me it seems like you're rushing this and hoping to come up on some ends, but it takes time to do that.

I understand that you are okay with the criticism and can take it bad or good. That's a good thing, because those are the types of cats who can learn off it easier than people who can't take it at all. In my book, if you can't take criticism, don't be an artist of any caliber.

Now I'm going to critique your site. In all honesty, this looks like it was put together inn about 5 minutes with an html program. I know that you don't know html because I gave you some places to go learn about it (at least most of the basics anyway). This would be like me trying to make a flash site, knowing my knowledge of it is limited....BUT...I'm still going to be as hard on you as someone who doesn't know you at all and only sees from the outside looking in.

IMO linking to the soundclick site isn't helping it, but I understand that you did this through freewebs and freewebs doesn't allow mp3 uploading. If people want to hear your music, then what stops them from just going to the soundclick and forgetting all about your site? Is that what you want? If you put a site out to folks, I would strongly recommend that the mp3 is available from the link. Get your paper together and pay for a site to be built. I would only use freewebs for demo purposes and to get a basic rundown of how your final site looks so it's easier to transfer it to a site you can pay for and get whatever you like.

Also, I'm looking at your scripting because when you go to the site, the flashing reek brock would seem to be at the very bottom of the site, but it really isn't. That's no bueno because if people think it's at the bottom, they won't scroll down to read what you're talking about. No information, no business at all. Trust me on this fam.

When I scroll down, there's hardly any info at all. I would read that and think "Ok this dude is just trying to make a quick buck if he can off this". BTW is that a picture of downtown Detroit at night? I know where you're from, other people don't. You should put yourself out there a little more in your intro. Hype yourself up because you're not only selling tracks, you're selling yourself at the same time.

Your site has to be as visually appealing as possible so what I would do is make a paper layout of how you would like your site to look and make it happen by the drawing on your paper. This might take a while for you to learn, but as you get more comfortable with html it'll be cake. Also with all of the free tutorials available on html, I would strongly recommend that you learn it for yourself. Take about a month and practice on the basics and some of the slightly more advanced things. As you learn you build confidence. If you want to see an example of this in work, you can look at my site. It's right here

The background to me is very boring. Once again it just looks like you took something to fill it with nothing that personalizes you or what you do. Here's a good website that I recommend to get some ideas in your head. It's this one. This one still makes me want to do better, big ups Change. Anyways, get something that suggests "This is ME".

As far as the links go, text links look amateur at best. Not the way to go. I would suggest either learning programs like Photoshop or getting someone who knows that very well and is willing to work with you to help you out or maybe even teach you how to use it to your advantage.

I see table commands in the scripting, but from looking at the site, the commands look like maybe they should have been frames instead of tables or maybe tables and frames combined.

This should get your on your way. I'm sure others will contribute their ideas as well. Keep working at it man.

Fiev.

Thanks fie.I just thought I 'd put myself out there to the folks in here because I know that they will tell me like it is.Its not final by any means but I wanted to see what I was doing wrong so I can go back and fix it.I'm learning html slowly but surely. It was a rush job at about 2 in the morning so today I might go back and redo some things.I didnt put alot of information because I wanted to get to the point.Sadly people dont like to read.As long as they can listen to the beats thats all that matters .I'm trying to think from a rappers point of view.I can have a sweet flash site with sound and all that but if they cant relate to the beats it doesnt matter anyway.I had to realize the sound thats hot right now wasn't what I was going for so I'll do both. Thanks for the advice and taking the time to go over it.Any emcees in here let me know if its gets the job done.

Well, first when I go to the site I look at it and say, "What is this all about"?

I feel I have to really search to find out what you're all about. Yes, a bio is very important. Tell what you're about. Make people want to go more into your site. Also, make an interesting logo that explains who you are just by looking at it. "A picture tells a thousand words..." Also, what do you want to get out of the site. Getting hits is great, but it's the outcome that is important. Make a guestbook and have people give feedback. Make strong bonds with your visitors. Cause you want people to comeback. Not just stop by and leave.

This is what I do:

Use Photoshop to create your layout. Change and move things around. Once you have everything done in Photoshop. Make it in HTML. The good thing about doing it in Photoshop is when you're done, do searches for HTML codes to do what you see in Photoshop. Tables, frames, html, java....

Hey, it's not easy, I learned most of HTML and Flash by doing tutorials on the web. Took about 3 months. OK it was really more...

Also for now, you can get free web templates and work from there...

I need to really sit down on the Flash work...I think my Photoshop and html skills are tight where they're at for now.

But the main thing to know is that it takes time to learn it and make it work for you.
