The question is, On a $1000.00 dollar spending limit wat can i get that
1. has very good bass responce ( a step up from my event's 5' woofer) that i can hear the bass accurately without having to turn my sound up 2. can handle loud volumes (for customers sake and mine wen i wanna show off )3. are accurate enough to get a mix that will translate good on any system without having to double check (even though doing that now is something i do all the time and will probably have a hard time breaking the habit) 4. is flat, not hyped somewhere like the mids, or has exaggerated highs, just nice and flat (wait, you can't have nice if you have flat, oh well) you get the picture |

There are many decent monitors near the $1000 range. The Mackie's are pretty good. Tannoy Reveals are there too. But i think Mackie's are better at the flat response.

stay away from m-audio
M-audio monitors color the sound to much
i played a finished cd in the store on m audio monitors and it enhanced the dynamics of everything it sounded realllll good. But thats not what monitors are supposed to do. The mix sounded ok on boomboxes hi-fi and regular other monitors but the m-audios just enhance the sound to much as to if you mixed everything to sounfd flat on them they would sound muddy anywhere else because the flat mix you heard on the m-audios were actually enhacnced and the version through true speakers will be even flat-ter making your shit sound garbage.

Yeah when you get monitors, I would have suggested at least getting 8's because you can get good bass response without having to turn it up too much (unless you really want to).
I didn't know that about the M-Audio monitors. I was thinking about some KRK Rokit8's when I buy monitors since I'm working with a smaller budget than $1000 (only because I'm workiing bit by bit to build a PC from ground up strictly for the studio and then buying a rack). Reason's got my beats covered with no additional hardware, but for vocals I think I'd like the choice of going hardware or plugin. Fiev. |

For vocals fieva i got the roland VS2000, nice, warm and all analog components make recording vocals a snap. Plus its got a usb connection so i can export the files as i need to (mixing down some where else or for further production)
I really like the quality, i can send you a sample if you hit me with your email if you'd like And yeah bk, i was thinking about the dynaudio's butdid the resaerch and found that the events and the fostex pm-2's were concidered in the same class as far as sound goes with the dynaudio's just cheaper. So i figuered if my key components were met (accurate mixing no matter the situation, clear flat responce and smooth bass) then why spend the money for bells and whistles wen all i really want is something to get the job done without further delay. |

i know wat you mean, hardware is so much fast too! punchins are a snap now, and the best research i found was on here, in the mixing and mastering forums, type in monitors nd you'll see.
those guys don't play around, i wish i had the link cause it was from the issue of electronic musician where they had all the monitors on the cover stacked like a pyramid, and basically they took all of the monitors to a N.Y. studio and invited the owner/head engineer to be part of the testing and the Events came out on top |

I listen to some of the KRK's, EVENTS, and the Dynaudio BM5A I really didnt like how the KRKs sounded..the Events are high on my list but I want to hear the ALP5..and those BM5A are the truth..but out of my price range...But if I really want them I guess I can put off gettin monitors for another 3 months..well will see,, so my list looks like this right now 1. Event TR6 2. Dynaudio BM5A 3. Event ALP5 (i have really though about these hard..just need to hear them)
