Pre Amps on a Soundcraft spirit

Just a general question. Are the pre amp on a soundcraft spirit fx board considerably better than lower name models.I know obviously if i want to get serious I need to get a better one anyways but I was just wondering what peoples thoughs were on that specific model , it seems to work well for me in every
application , of course vocals less than the rest.

Peace

Personally, I do not think they are much better. A little better? Maybe. But then it is all really a matter of opinion.

Chip Evans is on a distinguished road
I use a Soundcraft Spirt FX16 in both home and professional applications. I believe the preamps are of sound quality. I use them side by side with Focusrite and other brand name Pre's. I never though, use the mix buss as I run direct out on all channels. In other words, I use mixers as channel strips. And yes, I think they are better. Of all the budget Soundcraft pre's the "ultra mic" allows me to do my job. These are different then the ones on the "M" series. Of course, many other brands offer the same quality.

Nice thought out set up you have!

Good luck

I don't know how similar or dissimilar they may be, but I really like the preamps in my Spirit 328 mixer. They are certainly not "high end", but they are noticeably better than the pres in any other budget mixer that I've tried.
