No Pre-amp Control on Superbass.

I have a Marshall Superbass Mk 2 100w amp head.
It doesn't have a master volume control just 4 separate input controls as well as Presence, Treble & Bass.
I use it for guitar & bass. It has a great sound but with no pre-amp to push hard it basically takes a fair cranking to get a big sound from it.
Other than using an outboard preamp or pedal is there anyother trick to getting that Marshall sound with out the MASSIVE volume?

Hot Plate.

Which is too expensive for my blood, I would just use one of these:

Or for something adjustable:

Also I've seen those in audio taper before, I have some monitors with 'em, but I can't seem to source those.

Have a tech install a master volume pot on it?
