Quick Question Fellas "Rather Simple".......
I am waiting on a laptop that I ordered. I want to transfer Sonar, Reason, Wavelab, and FL to it, it should be able to handle that because the specs are better than my desktop. My question is, what is a good soundcard I can get for the laptop? I'm sure the Audiophile 2496 I have in the desktop probably won't fit or be compatible to the laptop........Any good info would work for me!
Keep it banging fellas!

probably the best solution out there for ya is an external USB or FireWire sound card..i doubt anything internal made for laptops is good enough

External USB is going to be the way to go. You should find a good one for $150 - $275

Fire wire is better then usb each device has its own port and some units are daisychainable (not sure if thats a word
).usb has hubs and that can cause slow data rates even at usb 2 I my self would go firewire .... want to pick up a F400 Mackie. my 2 Watts ![]()

I don't recommend USB for Audio... It has bandwidth limitations. FIREWIRE is much better technology for the laptop...... Also ECHO as a nice PCMCIA soundcard... Look into it...

Uhmmm a EMU 1616m ain't a bad choice. Either that or one of the M-audio Firewire options.

Thanks fellas, will look into all of that!
I am in the sky travelling quite frequently so that is mainly where I will use the laptop and to bring the whole system around with me to studios and such, so a soundcard might not be a "real" option at this point. But if need be, it is beefed up enough to run in the studio, at least as a back up option. Thanks again!
