Yeah beats was cool, I think you should have a wider variety..they all sound like down south beats wich is cool...but you should show potential buyers your diversity, cause they may overlook you thinkin you dont make them kind of beats

Oh ya, on the check out page where you have to check the terms box, add the terms page link under it. Ya, I know it's little. But, you will be suppressed how people don't want to search or go to find the page...

Yeah the site is nice but as stated add some more diversity to the site and get some better beat names. I'll be looking forward to more additions to your site.

No offense intended, but you're not cut out for this business if this is your attitude. I've been broke far longer than I've had bread, yet if I'd given up when I was broke, I wouldn't have gotten where I am today.

I'm not rich because of music, it's still my part-time gig. Yet it does provide me an extra $10-$15 thousand a year right now.

If you seriously give up because you couldn't sell some online beats, you're not made for this business. Moving beats online is the least of your worries in this industry, trust me.

Couldn't have said it better myself C.

If you go into this hoping to sell track after track overnight...you're wishfully thinking and Christmas ain't for some months now.

Keep in mind, you have to hustle locally to get most of your paper. Local cats will be more willing to break bread with someone they can meet in person and get to know. Word of mouth can spread from there. I would only use your beats online as an online inventory of what you can do and what you have. True you can make a little money selling online, but that takes a LOT of time. I can make about an extra $2,000 a year if I really hustle (that's only with beat sales, because I only do other stuff like recording vocals, mixing, and artwork/web design for myself). And to be honest, I make more bread doing custom work that never hits the internet and cutting deals here and there to help out underground cats to get more word of mouth. Shit, that's 2k more than I had and usually gets me out of financially tight situations and helps add to my setup.

But if you have that attitude, I wouldn't suggest to do anything involving sales.

Fiev.

I hear you

All good points but i'm 35 years old now.I feel like i'm out of touch with with younger folks.Been trying to get into the biz since i was 19.I'ts just time for me to focus on other business.Never said i was broke. The web site was just a test.My talent making beats is becoming less important.Everybody with a computer and some cheap software is a hip hop producer now.Even locally people don't want to pay for beats. When i lived in Atlanta i couldn't give a beat away. Just not worth my time anymore. You are right i'm not cut out for This business.

Nah, man, you are. You just gotta quit stressin it so much. Find a rapper to go with your flows, or do it yourself, and sooner or later something good will happen.

Age is just a number...you say you lost touch with the current trends? Get out there and get that back. If you have love for the music business then successes or failures shouldn't keep you from that. If I'm not still making tracks when I'm 50 or 60 I'll be surprised, why??? Because I like to do it.

I did not have high expectations for this site. But i told myself if i got to a certain number of hits i should have sold at least 1 beat.1500 hits(1800 if you include returns) not 1 sold. That was a good enough test for me.http://www.beatsfordemos.com is gone.

Try setting up an a free account at soundclick.com
It costs nothing, you are more likely to sell beats there..then your own website, cause you have to make it known that you have a site...soundclick is already known, and you will get a shit load of hits in no time.
I feel you as far as too many producers, and your software issue..wich I aint gonna go in cause some fruity bastards gonna get there feelings hurt.
I make beats as a HOBBY..its fun for me..so its cool.
My friends make beats they got a platinum plaque, and a gold one..as well.MY close homie sells beats to mc eiht matter of fact he did the song COMPTONS BACC..that they are playin on the radio in L.A. ,also..Tray dee,C.M.W.,IMX,FLIP MODE SQUAD,Thuglords,C-Bo,Yukmouth,Gangsta,just too name a few..Selling beats is hard without a ,manager(I aint talkin about your homie either) Most indy rappers are living off some distribution deal money...and they wanna have ya bring down the price...My boy always says he would never sell a beat for 200 ,he says His time and money(even though he can bang one out quick) is worth more, and he would rather keep it for himself, tyhen let someone else use it to make them money...I tried hooking him up with this one rapper...and he was like...I dont care what kind of deal he has ,or what kind of budget he is waiting on,i dont care who he knows, who else is gonna get on the track,i aint trying to hang out with him...if he got the money for a beat the we can work something out..Ya see there are producers out there who get star struck ,and end up workin for peanuts,.

If I was you I would just find a rapper, split some studio time...he raps you make the beats, and put out a lil indy project...get your name out there,shit...find one of these chicano rap labels and sell them beats...my boy made about $15,000 last year off one,and they didnt want the heat....they have a certain style of beat, and you dont need to be highly skilled for those.Around the U.S chicano rap is big..it aint mainstream....but its underground and they support there own..big big big..

Well i can relate to that bro,i feel like i'm outgrowing rap or hiphop, but u know music doesnt have an age,you can allways try different type of mysic, something new.Actually thats what i'm working on now,i want to keep hiphop but i want a new twist to it,something that no one has

If you follow the grain, you will be lost in it,so you must stand out from others by creating new possibilities in the sak so to speak

Upper_Cutt is on a distinguished road
I think that the only way to make is to to really hustle. That means shopping your beats to everyone and everywhere. You really have to be in the streets to make it happen. Go to all the independent artist shows, buy all the indie rap albums and try to network with the rappers. In essence, you have to put yourself out there. The problem is how much are you willing to sell your beats for??? Everyone talks about leasing beats, but most artists want exclusive rights. I think that it is important to get to a level where your junk beats are highly marketable, that way you wont strss over selling your art for $50/ beat. I'm thinking of packaging 10 junj beats on a CD and marketing it to the high school and middle school crowd.

Dogg I feel ya pain... The thing that keeps my frustration level down is the fact that I make money otherways... If I had to rely on this exclusively for funds... I would go crazy...

You say you been trying since your 19 then how can you just drop out ? It is a part of you... What you may need to do is take a break from it...
