Do a search on the word latency.

If you have ASIO drivers, use those
there are generic ASIO drivers available from: http://www.asio4all.com/

latency
its possible that the drivers are causing it but not likely... are you playing back samples? or just gm sounds on your sound card? or are you possibly trying to generate then rec and then playback? alot of that could be buffer issues.... not enough data to tell from your description... oh and as to the drivers " almost always " your better off useing the drivers written by your sound card company over generic drivers what programs are you running do they have a history of not playing together.... good luck and yes do google latency...

I was using a sound card that was built into the motherboard. I used or downloaded all kind of drivers but still had the issuse. Then I turned everything that was running in the background off (virus scanner/monitors etc) and in the midi software (cakewalk) selecetd the latency to max setting. It did help but then it started to do the same thing again after sometime. So I went out and bought me a audiophile 2496 and till today I never had that issuse come up anymore. Plus I can multitask and still use my midi software too all at the same time. . . Plus I've read some comments here from some users that they use non-integrated sound cards and they don't really have this latency issue. . . (maybe higher end sound blaster sound card or ??? sound cards) . . . |

I use a AC'97 soundcard for normal computer use and use the ASIO4All drivers when I want good latencey while using my little comp speakers when running audio apps and I get very good performance.
