Frontier Tranzport and USB interface?

Hello,

Anyone out there using a Tranzport with a USB audio interface, such as a Tascam US-122? The Tranzport seems like it will make my recording life much easier. I fear however that sharing the USB bus with my audio interface will lead to clicking, popping, and other unpleasantries.

Thanks,

JD

Unless you have a very low-spec computer you shouldn't have a problem. The US-122 is an audio interface and the Tranzport is a transport controller. The two functions should be exclusive enough not to confict.

The Tranzport interacts with your DAW software, not the audio interface. I really don't think there is a whole lot of data getting passed through the USB bus when using the Tranzport. Probably a similar amount as a mouse or keyboard.

I'd really expect it to be okay, although maybe buy locally from a place you can return it to. But I doubt you'll want or need to. I've turned a couple of my colleagues onto the Tranzport and they love it.

I second that. I love my transport.

And it's got this real WOW factor for clients - it just damn looks kewl.

Actually, just had to edit this and say how it strikes me as uncanny how Albert and I seem to have the same taste in stuff

I've been using the 122 for a while, but my physical set-up is very unwieldy for being anywhere but behind the drumkit. When I'm doing guitar or keyboard overdubs, I'm constantly running back and fourth and triping over cymbal stands.

My DAW computer is unfortunately very low spec, but has (P3 700) but has been doing the job respectably, given the simple recording tasks that I ask of it. If the Tranzport screws everything up, It'll be the perfect excuse to upgrade that bit o' hardware .

Think I'll put in an order with my favorite web merchant on Monday...

Thanks,

JD

The Tranzport is *made* for guys like you that are stuck behind a drum kit, or have to be distant from the computer. One of my friends that I turned on to the Tranzport is a drummer and he loves the thing, says it changed his life. He's totally totally happy with it, as am I.

Yes fraserhutch, we do seem to like a lot of the same gear! People here are going to start thinking we are the same person.
