I have another FXpansion product called Guru that I find to be very good indeed. It's solid both as a stand-alone and as a plugin and has never crashed --- and it's VERY inspiring to use.
I have used BFD on a few occasions and would be very surprised if there was any difference in dependability or quality between the two.

I own BFD and it is an excellent application. I use it as a plugin with Digital Performer. The sound quality is excellent, but what is best is that it comes with a bunch of loops and is very easy to use. There is almost no need for the manual, very intuitive. I highly recomend this product it has served me well.
