Loss of Audio on 'exiting' SONAR

Hello,
1st time ( newbie ) with SHS4. ( years with other sequencers ).

WIN2000,
M-Audio 2496 Audiophyle sound card,
ASIO driver preference configuration on base system.

I have SHS4 set up to use ASIO mode drivers. I use the sFz instrument. All works fine.

Now, each and every time I exit SONAR, and return to use my other audio-MIDI music applications, NONE of the applications seem to be able to properly transmit sound to the audio output ... I hear absolutely nothing UNTIL I re-boot my system, than everything works as it had for the last few years until I began using SONAR. I see MIDI traffic indications, but no sound card response ??? Has SONAR changed or altered something prior to exiting ?

I know very little about these lower level audio configurations and protocalls, but it seems to me that Sonar is somehow changing or switching an audio preference path or output configuration when it is in control and being used, and fails to return the audio control to its original setting upon exiting ???

Does this sound possible ? .. even though I am using the ASIO driver mode in Sonar ??

WHat could be not being reset to its prior-to-Sonar state upon exiting ?

This is a longshot but try going to Options > Audio

click on the Advanced tab and check the Share Drivers With Other Programs option under Playback and Recording.

Mind you, I'm on Sonar 5 and I'm not familiar with 4...
