A Song Looking for Critiques

Not really a finished mix or anything more than a demo, here is a track called Just to Fall, very modern acoustic folk/pop/rock (somewhat reminiscent of Nickel Creek, if that helps). I'd appreciate it if anyone has any comments, critiques, flames, or advice to offer. Take a listen here. Thanks.

The instruments have a pleasant sound in general, but they seem a bit on the dark side. It seems there could maybe be some sparkle brought it somewhere with some EQ possibly.

The vocals had a nice sound to them, but there were a few pitch problems here and there. This was most noticable on the chorus part, especially the "then I ran away" line. The top voice takes a long time to make it up to the 4th there. This was pretty much the same each chorus.

The guy who sings the counter-melody in the 2nd verse (Patrick I guess?) doing the "then I ask myself" bit has a James Taylor vibe to his voice.

The song is nice, but I would be really careful with the Nickel Creek thing. The songwriting is very similar, the instrumentation as well (of course), and the lead singer even sounds like he's trying to emulate Nickel Creek's manolin player's voice.

You guys have a nice sound, but I have to say that, at this point, there's already a Nickel Creek, and they do it better. Just something to keep in mind. There are plenty of examples of bands that come out sounding like earlier bands and have a bit of success, but it's usually short-lived.

Anyway, just my opinions. Nice job overall.
