Midi cable : USB or JOYSTICK?
Which is better for novice user: A midi cable connecting to joystick port? or a USB connector?

If you're an Windows XP user it'll be 'plug-n-play' if you get a USB midi interface. There's no end in sight for manufacturers putting USB ports on new computers but there may be an end to joystick ports sooner rather than later. If you want something that will survive longer that one new computer purchase I would get the USB.

MIDI is MIDI; it doesn't matter HOW it gets into the computer.
But usb is pretty bloody easy. I've used a Midisport USB2x2 on 3 daws now with ZERO problems... |

And it's true that most laptops do not have the gameport any more.
